Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound
Age: 3 Years
Weight: 56 lbs
Posted 2-8-22. Hunter is a handsome 3 1/2 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound in need of a new home after his guardian moved overseas. He is a sweet and affectionate dog that has had extensive obedience training and is house trained. He is healthy, neutered, vaccinated and chipped. This is an active breed and Hunter will do best in a home where he gets regular walks and has a nice backyard where he can stretch his legs. Like most hounds, Hunter is vocal and would not do well as an apartment dog. Hunter loves playing with other dogs and does well when taken to the dog park. He has not had experience with cats, and most hounds do have a prey drive for small furry animals. Hunter loves people and he is good with gentle kids. He's a good match for an experienced dog person that can continue his training, give him lots of love and plenty of time during the day. Hunter is not an AFRP dog and currently is in a temporary home in the South Bay Area. For more information please email Anne at firstname.lastname@example.org
Breed: Terrier Mix
Age: 1 Year
Weight: 10 lbs
Posted 2-7-22. Luna 2 (formerly known as Sophie) is a loving, 1 year old spayed (and chipped), female terrier mix. She is playful, affectionate, and cuddly and yet will let you know when she needs her space. She walks well on a leash and is eager to sniff and explore the world. She is still a bit shy with strangers and children, though friendly when approached. She loves to play ball with other dogs, learn new tricks or simply chase each other. She is potty trained and at night likes to go in her crate with the door open and cozy blankets to sleep. She would love to have a family with a stay at home dog parent with frequent trips to the beach (her happy place)! Luna is not an AFRP dog. For more information please contact South County Animal Rescue at 831-525-5160 or email email@example.com
Brussels & Sprout
Breed: Chihuahua Mixes
Age: 10 Months
Weight: 10 lbs
Posted 1-28-22. Brussels and Sprout are energetic, playful, and snuggly Chihuahua mix brothers. They are great bed buddies, good eaters, and really enjoy human companionship. They are est. 10 months old, neutered, housetrained, cratetrained and quickly learning tricks. They have sweet, complementary temperaments; if you can house a pair, they will entertain each other and are very good at sharing everything, including toys, belly rubs, food, and your loving attention! They are up for adventures with a family or individual. It may take them a bit to warm up to other dogs with more socializing, but they are curious and not aggressive. Not big barkers. They can be adopted together or singly. Contact Colleen at 503-887-7650 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Age: 4 Years
Weight: 90 lbs
Posted 1-13-22. Sasha is a 4-year-old, spayed, 90-pound German Shepherd from Czech Republic. She is highly intelligent, agile, and physically strong, trained in German commands. She is incredibly sweet and attuned to her owner. She is a very healthy dog who will likely live a long life.
She was bred in her current home; Sasha has been aggressive just towards one of the female puppies that the family kept. She has not demonstrated any other aggressive behavior, with the exception that she will occasionally bark aggressively at other on-leash dogs on a walk, but this can be redirected. She has been off-leash at the beach, at the forest, and at the park, and around adults, children and a variety of other dogs with no problems. She is excited to greet adults and children; she may jump on people she meets due to overexcitement. She rides calmly in a car. She pulls a bit on a leash; she has a strong prey drive and will pull hard if she sees something interesting.
She requires an experienced handler. She can become anxious when separated from the family. She would do best with access to a large area in which to run and exercise. Sasha needs someone who understands and appreciates the best qualities of the GSD breed: intelligence, loyalty, athleticism, protective nature, and unconditional devotion to their family. If you are interested in hearing more about Sasha, please contact Kim Goldman at email@example.com or 714-478-6412.

Breed: Black Lab
Age: 1 Year
Weight: 60 lbs
Posted 10-27-21. Maui is a very energetic, smart, playful, affectionate, and handsome 1.5 year old, 60 lbs. black male lab mix (lab and Australian cattle dog). He was adopted from a shelter by a family with a toddler. Unfortunately, the family was unable to keep Maui as he can get jumpy and knock the toddler over. Maui also requires a lot of daily exercise and training and the family was unable to give him the time and attention he needs. Maui needs work on his dog socialization skills. He is currently in a board and train program for 4 weeks. Maui needs a large fenced in area where he can run around and play and he needs an active home with no young children and no cats, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Maui is reactive on leash and would not do well in a dog park or off leash. Maui's board and train program is currently working with him on some of these issues. Maui is neutered, housebroken, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. He knows basic commands, is food motivated and is a fast learner. He is a loving and loyal companion and would do great with the right family. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Maui, please email firstname.lastname@example.org

Posted 8-26-21. Buddy is a sweet, lazy, cuddly 4-year-old neutered Bulldog mix looking for a new loving home due to some changes in the living situation at home. He's a wonderful dog that is happiest being near his people and getting petting and love. He's a huge fan of belly rubs, peanut butter, chicken nuggets and his comfy bed. He is a healthy dog and takes a daily medication to keep some anxiety issues under control. Buddy is completely house trained and crate trained, he's great on leash and loves car rides. Buddy will do best in an adult household with no other dogs, no cats and no small children due to his size and tendency to sometimes jump up when he is excited. He is used to apartment living, but he'd also be happy with a yard to sniff around in. Buddy's family loves him and they want to give him a chance to live his best life. Breed: Chi/Doxie Mix
Age: 2 Years
Weight: 25 lbs
Updated 9-24-21. Whiskey a go-go is a 2 year-old, 25-pound spayed female Dachshund/Chihuahua mix being fostered in Santa Cruz. She was running loose for several weeks, scared, before she was caught and taken to a local shelter. She had never worn a collar or leash previously, so she had a lot to learn! She is initially scared of new people and she will need an experienced, patient adopter to win her trust and help her gain confidence. She is doing great in her foster home and she's extremely loving and playful once she feels safe. Whiskey would do best with another dog that can show her that everything is okay. She will need a quiet home with secure fencing. A confident cat will likely be fine, Whiskey has a tendency to chase but listens well and takes direction. She is house trained, fully vaccinated and microchipped. For more info email firstname.lastname@example.org or call or text 831-252-2757.
Breed: Malinois Mix
Age: 10 Months
Weight: 60 lbs
Post renewed 10-29-21. Boston is a 1-year-old spayed female Belgian Malinois mix that is looking for a quiet forever home. She loves other dogs and would do well in a home with another pup to play with. She loves going got the dog park, playing fetch and snuggling with her humans. She is crate trained, knows her obedience commands and learns very quickly. She would enjoy doing dog sports such as agility or nose work. Boston takes some time to warm up to new people, but when she does, she loves to snuggle and play. She is a typical "mouthy Mal" and would do well with an owner that has experience with this breed or other high-drive working dogs. Boston will do best in a home with plenty of outdoor space, no cats and no young children. She's looking for an owner that can continue her counter-conditioning and desensitization training, and help show her the world is not a scary place. Boston is not an AFRP dog and she currently lives in Oakland. If she sounds like a good fit for your family, please email Lisa at email@example.com

Posted 1-11-21. Raven is a 7-year-old, 100-pound special-needs Lab/Shepherd mix seeking a temporary or forever home. Her family was displaced by the Santa Cruz Fire in late summer. Raven is a loving and energetic dog that is very affectionate. Highly intelligent, Raven has gone through many levels of obedience school and she knows many commands and fancy tricks. She gets along will with the cat in her family, but has been known to chase roaming cats. She needs to be a single dog in her new home. Raven was born with a structural abnormality that is not repairable by surgery, which causes some urinary incontinence. This is successfully controlled with a medication that she takes 3 times per day. She has taken this since she was a puppy. She also takes a dose of anti-anxiety medication every day. If you can help Raven temporarily or permanently, please contact Erik at 831-233-1608 (texts are okay) or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Breed: Siberian Husky
Weight: 80 lbs
Post renewed 10-29-21. This is Mishka. She's a 2-year-old 80-pound spayed female Siberian Husky in need of an active, loving home. Her family had her since she was a puppy, but need to find her a new home due to some changes in family circumstances. Mishka is house trained and crate trained and enjoys meeting new people and playing with other dogs. She has not met cats, but this breed typically has some prey drive so a cat-free home would probably be best. This smart and easily trained dog knows how to sit, stay, shake, lay down. She does not jump up and walks nicely with a harness, pulling only when she gets excited. Mishka is basically a big baby that loves attention and belly rubs! She'll be a wonderful addition to an adopter that understands the mental and physical needs of Northern breed dogs. Mishka is not an AFRP dog and currently lives in the Sacramento area.
